Box Office Collection: “Gadar 2” is rewriting box office history as it charges towards the coveted ₹300 crore mark. The film, featuring the dynamic duo of Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, along with the return of Utkarsh Sharma, has created waves since its release on August 11. The film’s relentless box office journey showcases its potential to challenge this year’s biggest hit, “Pathaan,” which currently stands tall at over ₹500 crore.
Record-breaking week 1 collections
“Gadar 2” stormed the theaters with an impressive opening, amassing ₹40 crore on its first day. The momentum continued to surge as the film raked in a staggering ₹55.5 crore on Independence Day and ₹22 crores on its 7th Day, propelling its week one collection to an astonishing ₹283.35 crore.
According to the Producers Guild of India (PGI) and Multiplex Association of India (MAI), the period from August 11 to 13 marked the “busiest single weekend” for Indian cinemas since their reopening post the Covid-19 pandemic. During this period, “Gadar 2” was a major contributor, earning an impressive ₹134.88 crore. Another contender, “OMG 2,” also made a significant impact with ₹43.11 crore in the domestic box office.

Set against the backdrop of the year 1971, “Gadar 2” follows the journey of Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) as he embarks on a daring mission into Pakistan to rescue his son, Charanjeet Singh (Utkarsh Sharma), who has been captured by the Pakistani Army. Ameesha Patel reprises her role as Tara’s wife, Sakeena. The film beautifully captures the intense emotional struggle and Tara’s relentless determination to reunite with his son.
