Jaya Bachchan has stirred controversy yet again for her behaviour at a prayer meet. A video of her scolding paparazzi outside the event has gone viral, drawing sharp reactions from social media users. The incident occurred on June 3 after the prayer service for late filmmaker Rano Mukherjee in Mumbai.
Jaya arrived at the event with her daughter Shweta Bachchan. While leaving, she seemed visibly irritated by the media and confronted them. After ending a phone call, she approached the photographers and said, “Chaliye, aap log bhi saath mein aa jayiye. Sab bakwaas hai, gande-gande log hai sab.”
As Shweta helped her into the car, Jaya turned to another paparazzo and said, “Aao… aap gaadi mein aa jao.”

Jaya has often made headlines for her unfriendly attitude toward the press. However, she has never hidden her dislike for paparazzi culture.
During an episode of What The Hell Navya, she shared, “I hate it, I’m disgusted with such people. I always tell them, I say, ‘Aapko sharam nahi aati hai?’” She added that criticism about her work was fine, but she strongly opposed invasion of personal space.
Despite these views, many felt her words at the funeral event were insensitive. Some said she could have simply ignored the cameras instead of creating a scene.
Other Celebs Also Attended The Prayer Meet
The prayer meet saw several Bollywood faces like Kajol, Tanishaa Mukerji, Ayan Mukerji, and Salim Khan. Rano Mukherjee passed away on May 28 following a cardiac arrest. His last rites were performed at Santacruz Hindu Crematorium by his son Samrat.
On the work front, Jaya was last seen in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Her next film, Dil Ka Darwaza Khol Na Darling, features Siddhant Chaturvedi and Wamiqa Gabbi as leads.
