BTS will finally reunite as a full group in 2026. The last member, Suga, officially completed his mandatory military service on June 21. This clears the way for the group’s much-anticipated comeback. But the celebration is bittersweet as Suga addressed his 2023 drunk driving scandal with a public apology to fans.
BTS' agency BigHit Music confirmed Suga’s discharge, stating that he finished his alternative service after using his remaining leave. Due to past shoulder surgery, Suga served as a social service worker instead of joining active military duty like his bandmates.
BTS Suga Apologises For DUI, Thanks Fans For Waiting
Suga aka Min Yoongi shared a message on BTS’ fan platform after his discharge. He thanked fans for waiting and said the two-year break gave him time to reflect. He wrote, “Hello, armys, nice to meet you. It’s me, Suga… I really missed you.”
He didn’t avoid addressing the DUI case that made headlines last year. He said, “I’m sorry for causing disappointment and worries with the incident last year. More than anything, I was upset by the fact that I hurt you all.”
Suga also apologised to his fellow members and promised, “I’ll work hard even more to repay all the love you’ve given me.”
BTS' 2026 Comeback Confirmed By HYBE
All seven members ( Jin, RM, J-Hope, Jimin, V, Jungkook, and now Suga) have completed their military duties. HYBE confirmed to The Korea Herald that BTS is preparing to return as a full group in March 2026. Though the exact date hasn’t been announced, sources say it may happen in mid-March, possibly around the comeback of TXT, their labelmates.
BTS followed South Korea’s conscription rules without asking for exemptions, despite their global success. Each member served between 18 to 21 months as required. Now, with their service done, the band is ready to begin a new chapter.
