Chand Mera Dil Box Office Collection Day 1: Ananya Panday-Lakshya Starrer Sees Poor Opening, 62% Lower Than Actress’ Last Release

Chand Mera Dil witnessed a disappointing box office opening as Ananya Panday and Lakshya’s film earned just Rs 2.90 crore on Day 1. The romantic drama opened nearly 62% lower than Ananya’s last theatrical release.

Chand Mera Dil Box Office Collection Day 1: Chand Mera Dil has taken a disappointing start at the box office despite featuring young stars Ananya Panday and Lakshya in the lead. The romantic drama released in cinemas on May 22 with decent expectations, but the opening day numbers have failed to impress trade analysts and exhibitors.

Chand Mera Dil Performs 62% Lower Than Ananya Panday’s Last Release

As reported by Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 2.90 crore net on Day 1 across 4,944 shows. While the film managed to attract some urban youth audiences, the overall footfall remained lower than expected for a wide release romantic drama.

Chand Mera Dil saw a sharp drop compared to Ananya Panday’s previous theatrical release, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri. The Kartik Aaryan-starrer had opened with Rs 7.75 crore on Day 1 (nearly a 62% higher).

Ananya Panday’s recent box office track record has been stronger than this latest release. Earlier this year, Kesari Chapter 2 with Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan earned Rs 7.76 crore on opening day before crossing Rs 145 crore worldwide. In 2023, Dream Girl 2 opposite Ayushmann Khurrana had opened at Rs 10.69 crore.

Interestingly, the makers followed a release strategy similar to last year’s blockbuster romance Saiyaara, directed by Mohit Suri. That film, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, became a surprise hit after opening at Rs 21.5 crore without heavy promotions and later earned over Rs 388 crore in India.

To attract young audiences, Dharma Productions kept ticket prices at Rs 149 for shows before 5 PM on opening day. The offer mainly targeted college-going viewers, as the film itself revolves around a youthful love story set in an engineering college. However, the strategy failed to recreate the same magic at the box office.

Even though Chand Mera Dil underperformed overall, the film still became Lakshya Lalwani’s biggest opener so far. The actor earlier gained attention for his performance in Kill and has continued receiving praise for his screen presence.

Several viewers on social media appreciated the chemistry between Lakshya and Ananya Panday, even though the film’s collections remained below expectations. The movie still performed slightly better than other romantic dramas released this year, including Ek Din and Do Deewane Seher Mein.

About The Film

Directed by Vivek Soni, Chand Mera Dil is an emotional romantic drama centred on two engineering students, Aarav and Chandni, who fall deeply in love and marry impulsively against their families’ wishes.

The story explores how the couple struggles with adulthood, emotional conflicts, distance, and responsibilities after marriage. The film stars Ananya Panday as Chandni and Lakshya Lalwani as Aarav in their first on-screen collaboration. Supporting actors include Aastha Singh, Pratham Rathod and Elvis Jose.

The film reportedly has a production budget of around Rs 40–45 crore and runs for 2 hours and 25 minutes. The makers had high hopes from the project, but the coming weekend will now be crucial in deciding whether Chand Mera Dil can recover through positive word of mouth or continue its slow run at the box office.
