An unexpected public feud has arisen between Priyadarshan and Rajpal Yadav, two actors/directors who have collaborated on many successful films together, most notably ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, and who previously had a great deal of respect for one another.
The situation escalated when Priyadarshan made a statement regarding the educational background of Rajpal Yadav while responding to Rajpal’s current legal issues.

Background: Legal Issues and Support from Others in the Film Industry
Rajpal recently surrendered to a court in relation to a 2012 cheque-bouncing case involving 9 crore (90 million) rupees. Rajpal spent some time in Tihar Jail, but after filing for bail, he is now free until March 18th, 2016.
After his release from Tihar Jail, Rajpal spoke to the press in Mumbai, addressing the allegations surrounding him and thanking various individuals from the film industry who were supporting him throughout this difficult time.
Priyadarshan’s Remark: Support or Slip?
Priyadarshan defended Rajpal in public by stating he fought for him to receive a higher salary in his new film, where Rajpal has the role of a ‘bad guy,’ specifically to assist him financially. He said that the ‘legal issue’ was a ‘blunder due to his deficient education,’ while also calling Rajpal a ‘decent person.’
Priyadarshan explained he had previously cast Rajpal in various films and commercials because he knew about his financial issues.
While Priyadarshan intended to be supportive, Rajpal took umbrage at the ‘poor education’ comment.
Rajpal Yadav Hits Back
In a recent interview, Rajpal firmly rejected the claim. He stated that he is “well educated” and has worked consistently from the age of 11 to 55. He pointed out that surviving 25–30 years in Bollywood and completing over 50 films is proof of his capability.
While maintaining respect for Priyadarshan and other directors he has worked with, Rajpal said that judgments made without full knowledge of facts “do not hold value.”
The episode has left fans wondering whether the celebrated comedy duo can move past this public disagreement.
