The Independence Day weekend saw a major box office clash between two big films: Rajinikanth’s Coolie and Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR’s War 2. After a record-breaking opening, Coolie saw a drop on its second day, while War 2 picked up momentum thanks to the holiday.
War 2 Box Office Collection Day 2
According to Sacnilk, War 2 collected around Rs 56.5 crore in India on Day 2 across all languages, almost 10% higher than its Day 1 figure of Rs 51.5 crore. The Hindi version earned about Rs 40 crore. Morning shows started with 27.16% occupancy, rising to 63.86% in the evening, and closing at 56.36% at night.
Regional numbers were strong. Chennai led with 94.75% occupancy, Hyderabad had 80%, and Lucknow recorded 73.75%. Telugu markets posted 68.99% occupancy, boosted by Jr NTR’s fan following, while Tamil screenings reached 54.85% occupancy.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, with Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and a cameo by Bobby Deol. Its two-day total has already surpassed the original War (Rs 77.77 crore) and Tiger 3 (Rs 103.75 crore), though it trails Jr NTR’s Devara Part One, which made Rs 120.7 crore in two days. Made on a reported budget of Rs 325 crore, War 2 is a major action release in the YRF Spy Universe.

Coolie Box Office Collection Day 2
Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, saw a drop on Day 2 despite its massive Day 1 opening of Rs 65 crore across all languages. On Independence Day, it collected Rs 53.5 crore, with the Hindi version slightly rising to about Rs 6.5 crore. In two days, Coolie has earned Rs 118.5 crore domestically and Rs 151 crore worldwide, making it the biggest Tamil opener ever and surpassing Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo.
