Dacoit Box Office Collection Day 1: Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur starrer Dacoit finally released in theatres on April 10. The romantic action thriller opened to mixed reviews from critics as well as audiences. Because of this, the film had a slow but steady start at the box office.
The film also benefited from no direct clash with Dhurandhar 2, which is already in its fourth week. This gave Dacoit some space at the box office. However, the opening numbers show that while the film is stable, it has not seen any strong growth compared to recent releases.
Dacoit Box Office Collection Day 1
As reported by Sacnilk, Dacoit box office collection on Day 1 is around Rs 6.50 crore. These numbers are decent but not very strong. The film has managed to slightly beat Adivi Sesh’s last release HIT: The Second Case, which earned Rs 6.4 crore on its opening day.
DON'T MISS
It also performed better than Anaganaga Oka Raju, which had collected Rs 5.5 crore on Day 1. However, the difference is very small. This clearly shows that the film has not seen any major jump in box office performance.
At the same time, Dacoit could not cross the opening day numbers of Ikkis, which earned around Rs 7 crore. This puts the film in a mid-range opening category.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 continues to perform well even in its fourth week. The film collected around Rs 5.70 crore, staying close to Dacoit’s Day 1 numbers. This proves that competition is still strong at the box office.
On the positive side, Dacoit has done better than Mrunal Thakur’s last film Do Deewane Seher Mein, which earned less than Rs 2 crore on its opening day.
About The Film
Directed by debutant Shaneil Deo, Dacoit is a story of love, betrayal, and revenge. Adivi Sesh plays Haridas, a man from a marginalised community who spends 13 years in prison after being falsely accused by his former lover Saraswathi, played by Mrunal Thakur.
The story takes a sharp turn during the COVID-19 lockdown. Hari escapes from prison and plans to leave the country. However, he does not have enough money. At this point, he meets Saraswathi again, who is now struggling to arrange money for her husband’s heart transplant.
Soon, the two are forced to work together. Hari makes Saraswathi join him in a series of risky hospital robberies. As they continue, their past slowly comes out. Old secrets and emotions start to resurface.
The film also shows a tense chase, led by a police officer played by Anurag Kashyap. The story builds towards a powerful climax where Hari must choose between revenge and his remaining feelings.
The film also features Prakash Raj in an important role. Earlier, the makers had postponed the release to avoid clashing with Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Adivi Sesh had even said that such big films are a “phenomenon”, which is why avoiding a clash made sense.
