De De Pyaar De 2 Box Office Collection Day 1: Ajay Devgn And Rakul Preet Singh’s Sequel Opens Lower Than Original, Slightly Better Than Son Of Sardaar 2

De De Pyaar De 2 opens with Rs 8.5 crore on Day 1. Read how Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, and R. Madhavan’s sequel performed at the box office and what to expect over the weekend.

Actor Ajay Devgn is very much in his sequel phase. His film De De Pyaar De 2 hit theatres on 14 November 2025. The buzz was strong, especially after his previous sequels, Raid 2 and Son of Sardaar 2. But the opening day figures look modest. Read on to know how much it earned on the first day.

De De Pyaar De 2 Box Office Collection Day 1

As reported by Sacnilk, the sequel earned around Rs 8.5 crore nett in India. The number is not bad, but it doesn’t beat the first De De Pyaar De, which made Rs 9.11 crore on day one in 2019. On the other hand, it did slightly better than Son of Sardaar 2, which opened at Rs 7.5 crore. Still, when you compare it with Raid 2 (which recorded a massive Rs 19.25 crore on its first day), the gap is clear.

Rakul Preet Singh and R Madhavan join Ajay Devgn in this sequel. Meezaan also plays a key role. Fans were excited to see Devgn and Madhavan together again. Their last film, Shaitaan (2024), opened at Rs 14.75 crore and went on to make Rs 147 crore domestically.

The number of shows for De De Pyaar De 2 was over 5,100 shows across India. But audience turnout was slow. Morning shows saw only 7.46 per cent occupancy. Afternoon shows had 10.66 percent, and evenings moved up to 12.80 percent. The night shows did best, at 25.26 percent. These numbers offer a small hope for a better weekend.

What Is De De Pyaar De 2 About?

The film picks up the story of Ashish and Ayesha from the first part. Ajay Devgn plays Ashish, and Rakul Preet Singh plays Ayesha, just like in the first film. Now, they go to Ayesha’s family to ask for her parents’ blessing for their marriage.

Ayesha’s parents are played by R Madhavan and Gautami Kapoor. They start off as very liberal and modern. But things change when they realise that Ayesha is 28, while Ashish is 52. This age gap triggers many funny and awkward moments.

A key plot twist comes when Ayesha’s father brings in her childhood friend, played by Meezaan, as a rival to win her love. The result is a warm, chaotic family comedy. There are misunderstandings, heartfelt scenes and lively competition.

The cast also includes Jaaved Jaaferi and Ishita Dutta in supporting roles. Interestingly, Tabu, who was a major part of the first movie, is missing in this sequel.

Budget And More Details

The film was made on an estimated budget of Rs 75–100 crore. A big chunk of that went into cast fees. Ajay Devgn reportedly charged about Rs 40 crore, and R. Madhavan earned around Rs 9 crore. Anshul Sharma directed the movie, taking over from the original film’s director.

Much of the film was shot in Punjab, including Patiala. During filming, production paused for a while in September 2024 because the director fell ill with dengue. The movie runs for about 147 minutes and has received a U/A 13+ certification from the Central Board of Film Certification.
