Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh and R Madhavan’s much-awaited film De De Pyaar De 2 has hit a rough patch at the box office. The film saw a sharp fall on its first Monday. As per Sacnilk, Day 4 collections dropped to just Rs 4.25 crore. This brings the total to Rs 39 crore in four days. It is a big fall from Sunday’s Rs 13.75 crore. The drop is close to 70%, which is surprising for a film backed by strong stars and a popular first part.

Sequel Vs The First Film And Other Big Releases
De De Pyaar De 2 is behind the original in the opening trend. The first film earned Rs 44.73 crore in four days. The sequel is almost Rs 5.7 crore behind. This shows that nostalgia alone is not helping the film stay strong at the box office.
Among Ajay Devgn’s recent films, the performance looks mixed. It has done better than Son of Sardaar 2, which earned Rs 27.1 crore in four days. But it is far behind Raid 2, which reached Rs 71.25 crore by Day 4. It is also trailing Shaitaan (Devgn’s last film with Madhavan) which made Rs 61.25 crore in the same period.
The film is also struggling against big releases this year. Housefull 5 crossed Rs 100 crore by Day 4. Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par made Rs 66.65 crore. Even Salman Khan’s troubled Sikandar earned Rs 84.25 crore in four days. Ayushmann Khurrana’s Thamma also did well with Rs 65.6 crore in its first four days.
The next few weeks look challenging. New releases like 120 Bahadur, Mastii 4, Tere Ishq Mein, Gustaakh Ishq and Dhurandhar are on the way. These films may make it harder for De De Pyaar De 2 to bounce back.
About De De Pyaar De 2
The sequel brings back Ashish (Ajay Devgn) and Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh) as they navigate new drama in their age-gap relationship. The big twist is that Ayesha’s father, Rajji (R. Madhavan), is the same age as Ashish. Things get tougher when Ayesha’s old friend, played by Meezaan Jafri, returns. This leads to funny chaos and a fresh generational clash.
The film also stars Gautami Kapoor and Jaaved Jaaferi. It has a runtime of 146 minutes and is directed by Anshul Sharma, who replaces Akiv Ali from the first film. The budget is around Rs 100 crore. The Netflix release is expected in January 2026.
De De Pyaar De 2 is at a crucial point now. The weekend gave it hope, but Monday’s drop is worrying. The film needs strong weekday numbers and steady word of mouth to stay in the race. If that does not happen, the sequel may find it hard to match the expectations and hype around it.
