With just a day left for Dhadak 2 to hit cinemas, actress Triptii Dimri opened up about her emotional journey through the film. Sharing a handwritten note on social media, she described her deep connection with her character Vidhi. The post quickly drew attention from fans and critics alike, especially given the film’s bold theme and sensitive subject.
She wrote, “It’s almost time. Dhadak 2 is about to be yours, and I’m feeling so many emotions all at once. Vidhi is someone who quietly found her way into my heart and never left. Living her story, feeling her love, her confusion, her courage - it changed something in me. And now, it’s time for you to meet her.”
In her caption, Triptii added, “Nervous..Excited…Emotional. Just one day to go… #Dhadak2 in cinemas tomorrow.”
Dhadak 2 Is A Remake Of Tamil Film Pariyerum Perumal
The film (directed by Shazia Iqbal) is a Hindi remake of the critically acclaimed Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. Starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, Dhadak 2 is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions along with Zee Studios and Cloud 9 Pictures. Unlike the 2018 Dhadak, which was criticised for omitting the caste angle from its source film Sairat, the new instalment claims to confront caste-based discrimination head-on.
Pariyerum Perumal was much more than a romantic tale. It tackled caste violence, social injustice, and the pain of marginalisation. The film followed a young Dalit law student, Pariyan, and his struggle to be accepted in a casteist society after befriending an upper-caste girl. Its raw tone and fearless storytelling set a high benchmark. Now, Dhadak 2 must carry that weight without softening the impact.
Director Shazia Iqbal has clarified that Dhadak 2 is not a scene-by-scene copy. She said, “We could not just turn it into a love story and ignore the identity issue. Karan was very clear that we were unapologetically going to talk about the identity issues and caste.” To maintain authenticity, the actors were even told not to watch the original film.
Will This Siddhant Chaturvedi-Triptii Dimri Starrer Survive The Remake Curse?
While the trailer hints at a powerful story, it also features elements like a kiss scene, which was not present in Pariyerum Perumal. This has sparked concern among fans who worry the remake may add gloss at the cost of realism. Netizens have already begun questioning whether Dhadak 2 can match the brutal honesty of the original. On top of that, the remake factor might work against the film.
With its release clashing with Son of Sardaar 2, Dhadak 2 enters a competitive box office weekend. But if the film sticks to its promise of addressing caste with courage and clarity, it could spark important conversations, just like Pariyerum Perumal did. Let’s wait and watch.
