A prayer meet was held at Mumbai’s Taj Lands End on November 27. Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and their mother Prakash Kaur welcomed everyone who came to pay their respects. Many Bollywood celebrities attended, including Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Salman Khan, Ameesha Patel, Rekha, Sidharth Malhotra, Karan Johar, Aditya Roy Kapur, Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi. Singer Sonu Nigam was also present. He sang Dharmendra’s famous songs and left many emotional.
But one absence became the centre of attention. Hema Malini did not attend the prayer meet. She is Dharmendra’s wife, so people expected her to be there.

A report by NDTV.com said she was not present. Soon, people online began asking if she was even invited. Her daughter Esha Deol and former son-in-law Bharat Takhtani did attend, which raised more questions.
A video also went viral, which showed a priest outside Hema Malini’s house. This confirmed that she held a separate prayer ceremony at her residence. The clip sparked mixed reactions on social media. Meanwhile, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol stepped out publicly for the first time since their father’s death. They greeted guests at the prayer meet. A photo from the event showed the two brothers standing together in simple white clothing.
Sunny had folded hands and moist eyes as he greeted people. Bobby stood beside him, looking emotional but composed. A large framed photo of Dharmendra, decorated with flowers, was placed behind them.
Dharmendra was cremated in a private ceremony earlier in the week. The prayer meet became a moment for the industry to bid a final farewell to one of Hindi cinema’s most loved stars.
