About The Film And Its Impact

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is a high-stakes espionage thriller. It follows Hamza Ali Mazari (Ranveer Singh), an undercover agent infiltrating the Lyari underworld in Karachi. He faces off against the ruthless Rehman Dakait (Akshaye Khanna) while navigating dangerous missions under Operation Dhurandhar.

The film boasts a powerhouse ensemble, including R. Madhavan as IB Director Ajay Sanyal, Sanjay Dutt as SP Chaudhary Aslam and Arjun Rampal as Major Iqbal. Sara Arjun made her Bollywood debut as the female lead.

Released on December 5, Dhurandhar entered the Rs 1,000 crore club globally in just 21 days, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of the year. Critics praised its gritty storytelling, production quality and the dynamic chemistry between Singh and Khanna, though some noted its 214-minute runtime.

The film’s success has already led to Dhurandhar 2, set for release on March 19, 2026. Following the triumph, lead actors have reportedly re-evaluated upcoming projects. Ranveer Singh exited Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3, reportedly due to a fee hike demand. Meanwhile, Akshaye Khanna left Drishyam 3 after negotiations for a higher pay and character changes hit a deadlock.
