About The Film

Dhurandhar is a gripping spy thriller inspired by the 1999 IC-814 Kandahar hijack and the 2001 Indian Parliament attack. The story follows Indian Intelligence Bureau Chief Ajay Sanyal, who recruits a 20-year-old prisoner, Jaskirat Singh Rangi, to infiltrate Karachi’s criminal underworld. Using the alias Hamza Ali Mazari, he joins mob boss Rehman Dakait’s gang and gathers critical intelligence. The film ends with Hamza taking control of the Pakistani criminal and political network to dismantle terror operations from within.

Due to its five-and-a-half-hour footage, the film has been split into two parts. Part one was released on December 5, 2025. The sequel (Dhurandhar 2) is scheduled for March 19, 2026. A post-credits scene in the first film teases the next chapter, promising more action and insights into Hamza’s past.

Amid the film’s successful run, Hrithik Roshan stirred debate online after praising the film’s craft but questioning its politics. He wrote, “I may disagree with the politics of it, and argue about the responsibilities filmmakers should bear as citizens of the world. Nevertheless, can’t ignore how I loved and learnt from this one as a student of cinema. Amazing.”

His comment drew trolling, though he later focused on the performances. The actor said that he can’t wait for part 2 while praising the cast and crew.
