During a recent appearance at a film convention in Las Vegas, Yash spoke about the Ranbir Kapoor starrer and its release plan. He confirmed that the team is aiming for an October 2026 release window for Part 1 of the duology.
Yash said, “Ramayana, we are planning this year. This year, Diwali, which is in October last week.”
While Diwali in 2026 falls in early November, his statement points towards a late-October release strategy. Earlier reports had also suggested October 30 as a possible date, though nothing has been officially confirmed by the makers. This update has increased curiosity around the final release schedule of the film, which is being mounted on a massive scale.

Yash is also one of the producers of the film, making the project even more personal for him. At the same event, he also spoke about the vision behind the project and how it is designed as a larger-than-life experience. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer aims to bring Indian mythology to global audiences with advanced filmmaking technology.
Yash said, “Ramayana has a certain substance that stays with you for a long time.”
He further added, “The very reason this story has endured for so long, and gone beyond boundaries, almost transcending cultures, where people truly own it, suggests there’s something deeply universal about it. And I feel that experiencing it on the big screen, with today’s technology, could make it feel even more immersive and unique for audiences, something they can truly take in and enjoy the way it’s meant to be seen.”
This Ranbir Kapoor-led film features a strong ensemble cast. Sai Pallavi plays Sita, Yash portrays Ravana, Sunny Deol appears as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey plays Lakshman. The first part is expected to release globally during Diwali 2026, while Part 2 is scheduled for Diwali 2027.
