Saiyaara actress Aneet Padda and her sister Reet Padda have sparked a social media storm. Reet’s comments calling Dhurandhar, The Kerala Story and The Kashmir Files “propaganda” have gone viral, drawing widespread criticism.

The backlash was so intense that Reet has now locked her Instagram account and removed her profile picture. Netizens have also targeted Aneet, accusing her of silently supporting her sister’s statements.

Reet Padda Criticises Dhurandhar And Faces Online Fury

In her social media post, Reet labelled Dhurandhar 2 as “propaganda”. She wrote that the film pushes a “government-friendly narrative” and exaggerates events like demonetisation. Comparing it to The Kerala Story and The Kashmir Files, she said these films “take a sliver of truth” and amplify it to target specific communities.

Reet also criticised Priyanka Chopra Jonas for not speaking about international conflicts during the Oscars, stating the actress stood like a dodo bird and added, “If my sister Aneet were in such a position and stayed silent, I would be the first to call her out.” She emphasised that she does not discriminate against individuals but opposes political figures mixing religion with politics.

Fans reacted immediately. One user tweeted, “Meet Aneet Padda’s sister Reet Padda who mocks Dhurandhar and called it a propaganda movie. People on social media trolled her, and now she has locked her Instagram. Don’t mess with Dhurandhar fans (sic).”

Another added, “Reet Padda and her Pakistani boyfriend Fazil Ahmed both locked their Insta accounts after backlash (sic).”

Why Ranveer Starrer Is Being Called Propaganda

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar franchise stars Ranveer Singh as Hamza Ali Mazari, an undercover Indian agent in Karachi’s criminal underworld. The first film, released in December 2025, follows Hamza’s rise in the Lyari gang to dismantle an ISI-underworld nexus. Its sequel, Dhurandhar 2 The Revenge, released in March 2026, continues the story with major security events like the IC-814 hijacking and the 26/11 attacks.

Both films have been massive box office successes, making the franchise the first Indian film series to have two entries cross Rs 1,000 crore worldwide.

Despite its commercial success, the series has faced criticism for its “propaganda” content. Critics say the films use political messaging to justify policies like demonetisation and mix real historical footage with fiction, promoting “shrill nationalism” and “Islamophobic tropes.”
