Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has quietly become a surprise hit at the box office. Directed by Milap Zaveri, the romantic drama released on Diwali without much promotion but has still managed to impress audiences. It has emerged as a dark horse, especially as Ayushmann Khurrana’s horror comedy Thamma underperformed compared to expectations.

On its second day, Wednesday, the film earned around Rs 7.75 crore, slightly down from its opening day collection of Rs 9 crore. As reported by Sacnilk, the total domestic collection stands at Rs 16.75 crore. Remarkably, the film achieved this with just 2,400 shows, compared with Thamma, which had over 5,700 shows across India and earned around Rs 42 crore during the same period.

Romantic dramas have been performing well this year. Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara earned Rs 329.2 crore during its six-week run. While Saiyaara had more shows and the backing of YRF, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’s performance is notable given its limited release.

The film has already outperformed recent romantic dramas like Shazia Iqbal’s Dhadak 2, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, which earned just Rs 7.2 crore in the first two days despite backing from Dharma Productions. Dhadak 2 eventually earned Rs 22.45 crore over two weeks. In comparison, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has held its ground even against bigger competition like Thamma.

It also did better than Anurag Basu’s Metro, which collected Rs 9.5 crore in two days, and Vikrant Massey’s Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, which struggled at the box office. This makes Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat the only notable romantic drama of 2025 after Saiyaara so far.

Harshvardhan Rane is also riding on the delayed success of his earlier film Sanam Teri Kasam (2016). Originally, it earned Rs 9 crore, but upon re-release earlier this year, it became a hit and grossed Rs 42.28 crore domestically.

About The Film

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is a 2025 Hindi romantic drama starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa. The story follows Vikramaditya Bhosle (Rane), a young politician, who becomes obsessed with superstar Adaa Randhawa (Bajwa). When Adaa rejects him, Vikramaditya’s affection turns dangerous, putting both their lives at risk. The film explores the fine line between love and obsession, with drama, confrontations, and heartbreak driving the story.

Co-written by Milap Zaveri and Mushtaq Sheikh, who co-wrote Om Shanti Om (2007), the film also stars Sharad Kelkar and Ananth Narayan Mahadevan. Despite mostly negative reviews, the strong box office numbers suggest that audiences are connecting with its intense love story, similar to Zaveri’s earlier hit Satyamev Jayate (2018).

Produced on a budget of Rs 30–35 crore, the film released on October 21, 2025. Its runtime is approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes.
