Fawad Khan’s The Legend of Maula Jatt is the highest-grossing Pakistani film worldwide

Fawad Khan: Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s film The Legend Of Maula Jatt, starring Mahira Khan, has apparently become the highest-grossing Pakistani film ever, with an opening weekend gross of about Rs 50 crore (Pakistani rupees). The film debuted in over 500 theatres in 25 countries. It is the first Pakistani film to be shown in more than 400 theatres. It has reportedly performed exceptionally well in countries such as the UAE, Canada, and others.

World release

The film was released worldwide on over 500 screens across 25 countries which also means it saw the widest-ever release for any Pakistani film yet. After hitting the screens on Thursday, The Bilal Lashari directorial grossed Rs 11.30 crore at the Pakistan Box Office, followed by around Rs 39.44 crore from the overseas markets. Interestingly, it has also been trending on no. 1 at the UAE Box Office and has emerged as the top 6th in Canada, followed by no. 8 at Australia Box Office and at no. 9 in the UK

The Legend of Maula Jatt grossed around Rs 11.26 crore ($515,000) from the UAE, Rs 7.75 crore ($354,465) from the UK, Rs 6.33 crore ($289,739) from the USA, Rs 5.14 crore ($235,172) from Canada, Rs 3.50 crore ($160,390) from Australia and Rs 5.46 crore ($250,000) from the rest of the world.

Bollywood debut

Fawad Khan made his Bollywood debut with the film Khoobsurat and became an instant star in India. Afterwards, he acted in films like as Kapoor & Sons and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. However, following political turbulence between India and Pakistan, Pakistani performers were forbidden from acting in Bollywood. As a result, Fawad Khan’s Bollywood career was cut short.

In an interview with an online magazine, Fawad Khan recently said that working in Bollywood was enjoyable and that he also met a few nice pals. The political climate has had no effect on the bond he shares with his Bollywood friends, he said and added that he was against confrontation.
