Disha Saliyan Case: Actor Sooraj Pancholi finds himself at the centre of national attention once again, nearly six years after Disha Salian’s death and over a decade after the Jiah Khan case first put his name in headlines.
The Fresh CBI FIR
On September 14, 2026, the Central Bureau of Investigation registered an FIR into Disha Salian’s June 2020 death, acting on directions the Bombay High Court issued on September 2. The court reportedly instructed the agency to probe the case on the strength of evidence, without treating anyone as an accused without sufficient material. Reports citing advocate Nilesh Ojha, representing Salian’s father Satish Salian, say the FIR lists several names for investigation, including Pancholi, Aaditya Thackeray, Rhea Chakraborty, and Dino Morea.

Pancholi Breaks His Silence
Reacting on social media, Pancholi said he had chosen to speak up to place facts before the public, stating he has never met Salian or Thackeray in his life. He added that he supports a fair, thorough investigation and is willing to cooperate further if summoned, while also calling for scrutiny of what he described as a false narrative built around him.
Echoes of the Jiah Khan Case
This isn’t Pancholi’s first brush with a high-profile death investigation. He was tried for over a decade in actress Jiah Khan’s 2013 death before a CBI court acquitted him, closing a case that had also drawn intense media scrutiny.
Rising Tensions for Thackeray and Chakraborty
Disha Saliyan Case: With Aaditya Thackeray and Rhea Chakraborty both named in the same FIR, the renewed probe has added political and celebrity dimensions to an already sensitive case, with all parties denying wrongdoing as the CBI investigation proceeds.
