Naatu Naatu: After the super-hit song from the Telugu film “RRR” won the Best Original Song Oscar at the 95th Academy Awards, searches for “Naatu Naatu” on Google increased by a staggering 1,105% globally, according to a research released on Wednesday. The research by Japanese online casino guide 6 Takarakuji, after sifting through Google Search trend data, found that online interest for ‘Naatu Naatu’ multiplied over 10 times the average volume, just hours after the Telugu-language film swept the Oscar honour.

“The Indian song has become a popular sensation on TikTok, with 52.6 million views since its release in March last year,” the findings showed. The song depicts a dance conflict between the legendary revolutionaries and their colonial overlords in a fast-paced rhythm. A representative for 6 Takarakuji remarked, “History was created during this year’s Oscars ceremony, when Nattu Naatu’ became the first song from an Indian film to win in the Best Song category.

The song won over the likes of music luminaries such as Lady Gaga and Rihanna, which is a testament to the song’s immense popularity, as demonstrated by the huge rise in this data. “During the Oscars event, the exciting live performance of the song by singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava garnered a standing ovation from the crowd, and this historic triumph will give ‘RRR’ and ‘Naatu Naatu’ some well-deserved exposure,” the spokesperson continued.
