The government has reportedly sent a request to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to organise a cricket match as part of celebrations to honour 75 years of India’s independence on August 22 between India and the rest of the globe. According to the sources, the Ministry of Culture, which put forth the proposal, is currently in talks with BCCI representatives to try and secure the participation of top Indian cricketers as well as well-known cricketers from other countries in the match as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative.
According to BCCI insiders, the proposition is still being debated at this time because hiring overseas players involves several “operational and logistical issues.”
“The administration has proposed holding a cricket match between the World XI and India XI on August 22. We would want at least 13–14 international players for a rest of the world squad, and we need to confirm their availability, according to a source.
The Caribbean Premier League would also start at that time, he added, and English domestic cricket would be in full swing. The BCCI is determining whether players from other countries would need to get financial compensation for taking part.
Top BCCI officials will be attending the ICC annual conference in Birmingham (July 22–26), when they may speak with representatives of other boards to secure the release of a couple of their players for the match in India.
According to the reports, obtaining the Indian team’s top players won’t be difficult.
The final three ODIs of a road series against Zimbabwe are scheduled on August 20. Some of the players in this particular series might not be available because they wouldn’t be here until August 22.
Although they are not travelling to Zimbabwe, elite players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Rishabh Pant will be accessible before they depart for the Asia Cup, which begins on August 27 in Sri Lanka.
According to BCCI sources, all Indian players will be asked to join the squad for the encounter.
They noted that because it was a government-sponsored event, the Indian players wouldn’t need much persuading.
Currently, they added, the main priority is making sure the World XI team is of the highest calibre.
The status of the game will either be an international T20 or a friendly as of right now.
Even though it hasn’t been finalised, the game, if it happens, will probably take place at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla field.

Pingalli Venkayya, who created the national flag, will also have a birthday anniversary in August.
According to the sources, the campaign’s cricket game will highlight the value of sports and pay homage to cricket’s popularity in India.
