Happy birthday Dharmdendra: Hema Malini thanks fans for all the love

Veteran actor and yesteryear superstar Dharmendra turned a year older on Tuesday. On his 85th birthday, his wife and veteran actress Hema Malini took to social media to express gratitude to fans who have showered them with much love over the years.

"Today we celebrate Dharamji's birthday. It is the love and affection of u fans who still watch and appreciate our movies that we remain fresh in your memories. This is what keeps us going and we need ur blessings for this togetherness to last. Thank u for all the love," Hema Malini had tweeted on Tuesday, with past and present day photos of the couple.

In a separate tweet, she wrote, "Yesteryear and now. Your respect, blessings and love have kept us together all these years."

Wishing her father, Darmendra's daughter Esha Deol also penned down a note. Sharing a couple of pictures with him, she wrote, " Holding on to this hand for eternity. Love you papa ♥️ Happy Birthday Wish you happiness & the best of health always.

"Love you Papa ❤️ … Happy Birthday," Bobby Deol wrote while sharing a monochrome throwback picture with Dharmendra.

Sunny Deol also took to social media to pen down a birthday note for his beloved father. He also shared a picture with Dharmendra and wrote, "#happy #birthday #papa. The Greatest Actor and The Greatest Human being in this World. The World loves you. Be Happy Always. That’s the only way we want to see you. Give us all your sorrows. WE LOVE YOU. PAPA".

Dharmendra, one of the biggest superstars of India, has played an important role in shaping up Indian cinema.

Known as the 'He-man' of Indian cinema, Dharmdendra is awarded with Padma Bhushan. Some of his most notable films include Dulhan Ek Raat Ki, Pooja Ka Phool, Kaajal, Phool Aur Patthar and Sholay among others.

Recently, the actor announced that he is all set to make his comeback with the second instalment of his film Apne. The film also stars his sons - Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol.
