Virat Retired From Test Cricket Last Year
However, the year also brought a tough goodbye. Virat announced his retirement from Test cricket, just over a month before India’s England tour. The decision shocked fans but also earned respect. It marked the end of an era in whites.
Anushka Sharma reacted with a deeply emotional tribute that touched many. On the field, Virat ended the year in strong form. Earlier this month, he smashed his second straight ODI century against South Africa. In the first ODI at Ranchi, he scored 135 runs off 120 balls. The knock included 11 fours and seven sixes. India won the match by 17 runs.
That century was special. It was Virat’s 53rd in ODIs and his 84th in international cricket. He now stands just behind Sachin Tendulkar, who has 100 international centuries.
Away from cricket, Virat and Anushka continue to keep their personal life private. The couple married in Italy on December 11, 2017. They welcomed their daughter Vamika in 2021 and their son Akaay in 2024. Despite their global fame, they prefer a low-key life and spend most of their time in London.
