Bollywood actress Mouni Roy has spoken about a disturbing incident she allegedly faced at a recent event in Karnal, Haryana. The actor shared her experience on Instagram Stories and said the incident left her shaken, HUMILIATED and worried about the safety of women performers in the industry.

Here’s What Mouni Roy Said!

Mouni said she attended the event as a guest performer. However, as she walked towards the stage, several male attendees, including elderly men from the host family, repeatedly touched her waist while trying to take photographs. When she asked them to remove their hands, she claimed they reacted angrily instead of respecting her request.

She further said the situation became worse once she reached the stage. Two men standing in the front row allegedly made vulgar comments and obscene hand gestures. They also called her names. Mouni shared that she first tried to handle the situation politely by signalling them to stop. Instead, the men reportedly began throwing roses at her.

During the performance, the harassment became so uncomfortable that the actor briefly walked towards the stage exit. Despite feeling distressed, she returned to the stage and completed her act professionally. She added that the inappropriate behaviour did not stop, and neither the family members nor the event organisers stepped in to control the situation or remove the men from the front.

Speaking about how the incident affected her, Mouni said it left her deeply disturbed. She also expressed concern for women who are just starting out in the industry. According to her, if an established actor like her has to face such behaviour, it is worrying to think about what newcomers might go through. She said she felt humiliated and traumatised and called on authorities to take action against such intolerable conduct.

The actor also stressed that artists attend such events only to earn an honest living through their work. Questioning the mindset of the men involved, she asked how they would feel if someone behaved the same way with their daughters, sisters, or other family members. She described the behaviour as shameful and unacceptable.

In another message, Mouni pointed out that the stage was elevated and some men were recording videos from inappropriate low angles. She claimed that when people around asked them to stop, they were verbally abused. The actor said she loves her country, its people and its traditions, but was shocked by the sense of entitlement shown during the incident. She added that she usually avoids sharing negative experiences publicly but felt compelled to speak up this time.

She concluded by saying there are no words strong enough to describe such behaviour. Mouni said actors attend weddings and celebrations as guests to add joy to the occasion, yet are harassed instead. She described the experience as deeply unpleasant and unacceptable.
