Renowned spiritual leader Sadhguru shared his appreciation for Kangana Ranaut’s latest directorial venture, Emergency, after attending a special screening in Mumbai. Taking to social media, Sadhguru lauded the actress-turned-director for her ability to depict the complexities of one of India’s most controversial periods in recent history with finesse.
Sadhguru expressed admiration for Kangana’s evolution as a filmmaker, stating, “Kangana has truly come of age as a director in capturing the complex situations of our recent history. She has definitely upped the craft of movie-making a few notches.”
A Lesson in History for the Youth
Encouraging the younger generation to watch the film, Sadhguru emphasized the educational value of Emergency. Reflecting on his university days during the Emergency period, he recalled how everyone of that time was acutely aware of the events as they unfolded. However, he noted that the current generation lacks exposure to this chapter of history due to its absence in school textbooks and limited access to historical accounts.
“This is a capsule which will be a very quick history lesson on Bharat's recent history through some good filmmaking. A must-see for the youth of the Nation,” Sadhguru remarked, underlining the importance of the film in bridging this knowledge gap.
Kangana Ranaut’s Artistic Leap
The film, which Kangana has directed and also stars in, delves into the turbulent period of the Emergency imposed in India from 1975 to 1977. It brings to light the political and social upheavals of the time.
With Sadhguru’s endorsement, Emergency has gained further traction as an essential watch, not just for its cinematic brilliance but also for its role in educating audiences about an important chapter in India’s democratic journey.
