Bigg Boss 17 finalist Abhishek Kumar has spoken out about a disturbing experience from his early days in Mumbai. The actor shared that he was touched inappropriately by a man during his struggle to make it in the industry. The incident, which happened in 2017, left him shaken and unsure if he wanted to continue acting.
Abhishek (known for Udaariyaan and his emotional journey on Bigg Boss) revealed that the trauma pushed him into a dark phase. He even considered leaving the industry and starting a different life.
Abhishek Kumar On Casting Couch Incident
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Abhishek said the incident happened about two months after he moved to Mumbai. He said, “Toh mai darr gaya tha. Kuch aisa hua nahi tha. Usne aisa try kiya ki 'Tuje aisa karna padega, tabhi tu aage badh sakta hai.”
He had heard stories about the casting couch in interviews but never imagined facing it himself. He said, “I thought this doesn’t happen in real life.” Abhishek was so affected that he didn’t even tell his family he was in Mumbai. He added, “Maine kaha tha mei Delhi mei training kar rha hu.”
Abhishek recalled calling his mother after the incident. She told him to come home right away. He revealed, “Maine agle din ki train ki ticket li general ki. Aur mei general mai baitha hu, rota rota vapis ghar jaa rha hu.”
He left acting behind and started working a regular job that paid Rs 7000 a month. It took him years to regain confidence and return to showbiz. His resilience eventually paid off with fame on Bigg Boss 17, where he became a fan favourite.
Abhishek Reveals Signing A Film After Bigg Boss 17
After Bigg Boss 17, Abhishek signed a film and started attending workshops for it. But the project didn’t go forward because his dates clashed with Khatron Ke Khiladi. He shared, “The project was from a big production house.”
Now, Abhishek is seen in Laughter Chefs 2, a comedy-cooking show on Colors TV.
