Vicky Kaushal has stepped into a brand-new chapter of life, and he is doing it with honesty and heart. After welcoming his baby boy with Katrina Kaif, the actor has spoken openly about how fatherhood has changed him in ways he never expected. He admits that this shift has been deeply emotional and hard to put into words.
The actor recently opened up about the experience while attending the NDTV Indian of the Year 2025 awards in Delhi on Friday. Vicky was honoured with the Actor of the Year trophy for his powerful performance as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in Chhaava.

Accepting the honour, Vicky dedicated the moment to his family and his newborn son. He also spoke about the difficulty of leaving home for work after becoming a father.
Vicky said on stage, “Thank you, this is for my family and my little one who has come in as a blessing… Yeh pehli baar hai jo main shehar chhodhke aaya hoon after becoming a father, and it was very tough (This is the first time I’ve left the city after becoming a father, and it was very tough). It was very tough, but I’m sure when he grows up, and he watches this, he’ll be proud of his dad.”
The actor did not shy away from admitting that fatherhood has brought an emotional intensity he is still processing. When asked if becoming a father felt challenging, Vicky explained that the experience is still too new to define.
He said, “It is too new to feel any challenges. It’s all magical right now. It’s all very blissful right now… I don’t know main shabdon mein nahi baiyan kar sakta ke kya feeling hai (I can’t describe the feeling in words). There are all sorts of objectives that I can say, but it’s just a very special feeling, and, truly God has been very kind. The family is very happy, and this one is for my entire family and especially for him.”
Vicky also joked that he is now “better at changing diapers than acting”. The comment drew smiles and applause from the audience.

He will next appear in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love And War, alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Katrina Kaif was last seen in Tiger 3 with Salman Khan and Merry Christmas opposite Vijay Sethupathi. She hasn’t announced her next project since then.
