Former actor and Bigg Boss 6 fame Sana Khan has spoken openly about her decision to quit showbiz and addressed claims that her husband, Mufti Anas Sayed, forced her to leave the industry. In a recent chat with actor Rashami Desai, Sana said her exit was a personal choice driven by her search for peace and clarity in life.
Sana appeared in Salman Khan‘s Jai Ho and Akshay Kumar‘s Toilet – Ek Prem Katha, and later in the web series Special OPS. She became a household name after Bigg Boss 6. In 2020, when her career was going strong, she suddenly announced her decision to step away from acting. At the time, she said she wanted to serve humanity and follow the orders of her creator, which led to widespread discussion online.
Talking about that phase, Sana said she was going through major internal changes. She chose to keep that journey private and away from public attention. According to her, the shift was slow and personal, not influenced by anyone else.

Sana also spoke about her marriage to Mufti Anas Sayed and revealed that it was kept completely secret. Only her parents knew about it. Sharing an incident from the wedding preparations, she said, “When our marriage was finalised, it was a top secret, nobody knew except for my mom and dad. Nobody even knew the groom’s name. When I was applying mehndi, the mehndi artist asked me what the groom’s name was. I told her to leave it blank, we’ll write it next time.”
Addressing rumours that her husband forced her to quit acting, Sana strongly denied them. She said the decision was entirely her own. She explained, “The situation was such that major changes were happening in my life. I was literally transforming into a different person. And this was not something caused by my husband. It was something I wanted for myself. He was the one who guided me in that direction.”
Sana also rejected claims of being influenced or brainwashed. She added, “Nobody can brainwash you; it’s never like that. I wanted peace. A person may get money, fame, name, and respect, but eventually, they keep searching for inner peace,” she said. Talking about how her mindset changed over time. They say that when your surroundings aren’t right, your decisions also tend to be wrong. As time passed, I learned a few things, and that’s why I value my relationship with him so much. I keep telling my husband that I could have never found anyone better than him. It was indeed a tough decision, but I went for it.”
Sharing more details, Sana said even her extended family was unaware of her marriage at first. She recalled, “When my cousins saw him in the mosque, they called my cousin sister and said – This is Maulana Anas.”
Actress Says All Her Wedding Expenses Were Handled By Husband
She also spoke about the wedding arrangements and said her husband handled most of the expenses. She said, “Except for the mehndi, which I paid for myself, all the expenses, the nikah, accommodation and food for my family, and the reception, everything was taken care of by my husband,” she said.
Actor Zareen Khan recently also spoke about Sana’s spiritual side. Talking to Hindi Rush, Zareen said, “Faith is a very intimate relationship between you and God. You don’t have to publicise it. Sana was always religious, but she made a complete switch when she got married to Maulana sahab. It’s her life, and I’m happy for her.”
For the unversed, Sana Khan married Gujarat-based businessman and Islamic scholar Mufti Anas Sayed in an intimate nikaah ceremony in Surat on November 21, 2020. The couple has two sons. Their elder son (Saiyad Tariq Jamil) was born on July 5, 2023 and their younger son (Saiyad Hasan Jamil) was born on January 5, 2025.
