Shah Rukh Khan’s fight to save his son Aryan Khan during the 2021 drug case is still remembered in Bollywood. Aryan got a clean chit in 2022, but the time he spent in jail was very tough for SRK. Now, senior lawyer Mukul Rohatgi (who handled Aryan’s bail plea) has shared how far the actor went to protect his son.
Lawyer Of Aryan Khan Shares He Initially Refused To Represent Him In 2021 Drug Case
In an interview, Rohatgi revealed that he first refused to take the case. He was on holiday in the UK and didn’t want to return during the pandemic. But SRK didn’t give up. The actor called him directly and even spoke to his wife.
Rohatgi said, “He gave her the sob story, that – don’t take it as a client, I am a father. You know, things like that.” His wife also asked him to accept the case, and he finally agreed.
Shah Rukh Khan Also Offered Him A Private Jet
SRK’s desperation was clear. Rohatgi said the actor even offered him a private jet to reach Mumbai faster. He refused the jet but still flew down and stayed at his regular hotel in Nariman Point, where SRK also checked in.
Rohatgi shared, “I found him to be quite keen and intelligent. He had made a lot of notes and points and stuff like that, apart from the lawyers. And he discussed it with me, and then we argued it.”
The bail hearing went on for a few days before Aryan was finally granted bail after almost a month in jail. Rohatgi then returned to England to continue his holiday, but the case had already become a national headline. For him, it was another bail case. For SRK, it was a father’s fight.
Aryan has since moved on and recently made his directorial debut with The Ba*ds of Bollywood, where he also took a dig at the NCB. But Rohatgi’s revelations show how emotional and desperate that phase was for Shah Rukh Khan.
