Actor Imran Khan is trending on social media after his recent Reddit AMA session went viral. What started as a fun interaction with fans quickly turned into a big debate online. Many users think the actor indirectly criticised the current trend of violent and macho heroes in Bollywood. Some fans even linked his comments to films like Animal and Dhurandhar 2, although Imran did not take any names.
The discussion started when Imran hosted a no-filter AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit. During the chat, one fan requested him not to follow the trend of aggressive action roles. The fan wrote, “Please do not transition to the macho roles which are so hot right now…….”
Imran replied, “Yeah, no interest in playing a hairy, angry man covered in blood. I think that genre is generously represented.”

His short reply quickly went viral. Soon after that, many users began guessing which actors or films he could be talking about. In recent years, violent hero roles have become very popular in Bollywood, which made fans connect his comment to recent action films.
Imran Khan AMA Comments Sparks Debate About Violent Hero Trend
After the AMA session, social media users started linking Imran’s statement to action films starring Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. One user wrote, “Ranbirveer shadeeee (rightfully) (sorry I am being messy).” The comment spread quickly, and the discussion turned into a bigger debate about how heroes are shown in today’s Hindi films.
Another fan asked Imran a long question about the change in Bollywood heroes. The user wrote, “You were one of the few actors who portrayed a ‘good man’ as calm, kind, and emotionally intelligent. Today, a lot of mainstream Bollywood heroes are loud, aggressive, and often glorify violence or problematic behaviour toward women. How do you see this shift as an actor? Do you think this is just a phase or a deeper change in storytelling? And do you see space for more grounded, sensitive male characters to return?”
Imran gave a detailed reply and shared his concern about the trend. He said, “I have also noticed this trend and am disturbed by the way these films coddle every violent tantrum thrown by emotionally immature man-children who can’t conceive of a valid reason that a woman might spurn their advances. Important to note that there’s a significant difference between portraying violence and toxicity and validating them. I see it as people chasing a trend without consideration. My own sensibilities would not permit me to participate in a narrative which I consider to be irresponsible.”
Actor Trolled After Viral Remark
After the AMA, some Reddit users started trolling the actor. One user wrote, “His acting skills are terrible. He can’t pull off such roles anyway. All he can do is that one awkward facial expression for any emotion.”
DON'T MISS
Another user commented, “He is saying ‘not interested’ as if he is a great actor lol.. He can never do what Ranveer, Ranbir can do. Dude was a terrible actor. He was low-key playing himself in Jaane Tu and Delhi Belly.. good-looking, confused guy etc.”
A third user added, “Acting ho nahi payi, flop actor hai. Pata nahi isko itna bhav kyu dete hai.”
Meanwhile, Imran Khan is planning his comeback with the film Adhure Hum Adhure Tum. The movie has already finished shooting, but it still does not have an official release date, which has made fans curious about when he will return to the big screen.
At the same time, action films continue to dominate the box office. Dhurandhar 2 is currently running in theatres. It tells the story of Ranveer Singh’s character Hamza Ali Mazari, also known as Sher-e-Baloch, and his journey as a spy seeking revenge. The film also stars Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, Danish Pandor and Sara Arjun.
