Indian box office collection

Indian box office collection: As the nation gears up to celebrate Independence Day, the Indian box office has already set off fireworks of its own. A slew of films including Jailer, Gadar 2, OMG 2, Bholaa Shankar, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, and Oppenheimer have collectively raked in a staggering ₹403 crore across the country. Over a four-day period from August 10 to August 13, these films drew in more than 2 crore Indian moviegoers to cinema halls, setting the stage for a remarkable weekend.

Rajinikanth's 'Jailer' takes the lead

Leading the pack is Rajinikanth's Jailer, which commanded an All India Gross of ₹162 crore. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film sold approximately 93 lakh tickets during its four-day run, and all eyes are on its promising performance on August 15.

Sunny Deol's 'Gadar 2' holds its ground

Despite a 3-day weekend, Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 held its own against Jailer, securing an All India Gross of around ₹152 crore. Early estimates suggest a weekend footfall of 70 lakh for Gadar 2, with the film poised for further explosion at the box office during the holiday week. By the end of the week, Gadar 2 is expected to claim the top spot, surpassing Jailer's collections.

'OMG 2' marks its presence

Following closely is OMG 2, the social dramedy led by Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam, and Pankaj Tripathi. The film sold around 20 lakh tickets over the weekend, contributing to an All India Gross of ₹47 crore. As the film continues to gather momentum, it's fast approaching the coveted 'HIT' tag in the Indian Box Office arena.

Chiranjeevi's 'Bholaa Shankar' faces setback

Chiranjeevi-starrer Bholaa Shankar, unfortunately, faced a less triumphant fate, generating a gross of ₹22 crore during its 3-day run and a footfall of 16 lakh. While this may not have been the expected outcome, it serves as a reminder that not every venture can attain blockbuster status.

Steady run for 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' and 'Oppenheimer'

Karan Johar's directorial, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, continued its steady run into the third weekend, grossing ₹10.20 crore and selling 3.75 lakh tickets. Even Oppenheimer, amidst stiff competition, managed to make its presence felt with a gross of ₹5.85 crore and 1.01 lakh ticket sales.

Films like Barbie, Mission Impossible 7, Bro, Meg, and Baby also held onto their screening space, collectively selling approximately 1 lakh tickets and grossing ₹5 crore over the weekend.
