The Song of Scorpions trailer: Irrfan's last film is a tale of love, obsession and betrayal

The Song Of Scorpions trailer: Actor Irrfan lost his battle against cancer three years back. His last film The Song Of Scorpions is releasing now on April 28. The makers of The Song Of Scorpions dropped the film’s trailer recently. Irrfan’s fans are overwhelmed to see a final glimpse of their favourite actor who is no more now.

From the trailer, the film appears to be a tale of scorpion singers in Rajasthan. Scorpian singers are tribals who possess the power of curing people from venomous scorpion bites. They cure people by singing a traditional song.

The trailer introduces acclaimed Iranian actor Golshifteh Farahani as Nooran who is learning the art of curing people from scorpion bites from her grandmother (Waheeda Rehman). Irrfan Khan, who is essaying the role of Aadam in the film falls in love with Nooran and marries her. However, Nooran loses her voice in an unfortunate incident. The trailer ends with a message 'dark, twisted tale of love, revenge and the redemptive power of a song.'

The Song of Scorpions, featuring Irrfan, will release in theatres on April 28, a day before the actor's third death anniversary. The film also features veteran actress Waheeda Rehman, Tillotama Shome, and Shashank Arora.

Irrfan’s son Babil shared the poster and trailer of the film. The film that stars Tillotama Shome and Shashank Arora, is directed by Anup Singh.

Trailer launched

The makers launched the trailer of the movie on April 19, Wednesday. "TRAILER OUT NOW Bringing alive a heart-wrenching tale of love, obsession and betrayal. #TheSongOfScorpions Trailer out now (sic)," read the caption.

Love, deception and a song #TheSongOfScorpions Trailer releasing tomorrow," wrote Babil while sharing the poster.

The film is written and directed by Anup, who also directed Irrfan and Tillotama in the post-Partition drama Qissa (2013). The Song of the Scorpions had its world premiere at the 2017 edition of the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.

Irrfan's last big-screen release was Angrezi Medium, which released about a month before his death. Irrfan died at the age of 54 on April 29, 2020, following a battle with a rare form of cancer.
