Is Marvel Studios Struggling To Finish The Final Act Of Avengers Doomsday? Here’s What Sources Reveal

Production on Avengers: Doomsday is currently progressing in the UK, but Marvel Studios is still working on the film’s third act, according to insider Daniel Richtman. The release date has been moved from May to December 2026 to allow extra time to polish key scenes.

This kind of delay isn’t new for Marvel. Both Infinity War and Endgame saw major rewrites and reshoots during shooting, and the extra time is meant to ensure Avengers: Doomsday delivers a blockbuster finale fans deserve.

Avengers Doomsday Filming In The Void And On Earth-616

Richtman reports that the crew is shooting in The Void, a surreal alternate-reality landscape introduced in Loki and revisited in Deadpool & Wolverine. These scenes are expected to bring strange, otherworldly visuals to the big screen.

Additionally, filmmakers are working on scenes set on Earth-616, home of the Fantastic Four. One sequence reportedly involves the Avengers at a baseball game, offering a rare slice-of-life moment in an otherwise cosmic drama. There’s also buzz about a possible Silver Surfer project, though nothing has been officially confirmed.

Loki Is Back As Fans Anticipate More

Tom Hiddleston has officially confirmed he’ll appear as Loki in Doomsday. He laughed off earlier speculation and said, “I thought it was the end [Laughs]. I wasn't lying to you, I promise." He said that he didn’t know the plan back then. He added that he was trying to remember when he found out and called it very exciting.

He then shared, “It’s an extraordinary privilege to still be on the team, and there are more stories to tell.” Tom said the character has grown along with him. He also said it is truly an honour to still be part of the team.

Avengers Doomsday brings back familiar faces like Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and Robert Downey Jr. The film will also introduce new characters, with Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Florence Pugh, Danny Ramirez, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, and Lewis Pullman joining the Avengers world for the first time.
