Ravi Dubey is excited about the upcoming mythological film Ramayana and has shared some behind-the-scenes stories. He will play Laxman in Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part epic, with the first part releasing on Diwali 2026. Dubey said the project has been life-changing for him and the entire cast. The actors had to make big sacrifices and work hard to do justice to the legendary characters.

Here’s What Ravi Dubey Said

Speaking on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast The Ranveer Show, Dubey said, “That role changed me. I had to transform myself to do justice to it because the audience can easily tell when you are faking it. I completely altered my routine. In fact, all of us did, including Ranbir Kapoor. He has sacrificed so much for this film. This feels more like a yagya. We all did everything in our power to stay true to these characters, in how we behave, react, and even speak.”

He also praised Ranbir and the rest of the cast. Ravi Dubey added, “Ranbir has an incredible aura. He’s quiet, graceful, and deeply committed. He carries a very soft energy, and I think that’s something everyone who meets him would feel. Yash, on the other hand, is an extremely friendly person, very warm and genuine. Both of them are very different, yet equally kind-hearted.”

About Ranbir Kapoor Starrer Ramayana

Ramayana Part 1 stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Ravi Dubey as Laxman, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Kannada star Yash as Ravana. The film is a grand retelling of the ancient epic. It reportedly has a budget of over Rs 4000 crore ($500 million), making it one of the most expensive Indian films ever. Prime Focus Studios is backing the production, with music by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer.

Filming wrapped in mid-2025. Ranbir reportedly followed a sattvic diet, avoiding alcohol and meat, to fully get into the role of Lord Ram. The film has already generated a lot of buzz. However, Kapoor’s casting faced some early criticism after an old interview resurfaced in which he mentioned his love for beef.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is set to bring the legendary story to life with scale and devotion. The first part will release worldwide on Diwali 2026, with the second following in Diwali 2027.
