On the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, Sara Ali Khan, a Bollywood actress and the daughter of Saif Ali Khan and his first wife, actress Amrita Singh, submitted pictures to the social media site Instagram with the message "Jai Bholenath." Sara is shown in her post sitting in front of an image of Lord Shiva. However, this incensed her Islamist supporters, who began criticising her for partaking in actions associated with non-believers or infidels.
Sara Ali Khan soon began to get harsh and insulting remarks from Islamists for disobeying Islamic principles and engaging in "shirk" when she posted the Maha Shivratri wishes. For committing this "crime" of celebrating Maha Shivratri, a number of Islamists swore to unfollow her. She was made fun of for wearing short skirts in her movies, and it was said that she is only technically Muslim. Some questioned whether she actually adheres to Islam.
One more Muslim prayed to Allah to "guide her in the correct path." Most of these people advised Sara Ali Khan to feel ashamed for sending wishes on a Hindu holiday. Sara has not yet completed the Hajj, according to another Islamist.
