IU wins ‘Rookie Actress Award’ for her performance in ‘Broker’ at the ‘Chunsa International Film Festival’, Details Here

IU wins Award for Broker: On September 30, IU underwent an RT-PCR test, and she is awaiting the findings, according to her management company, Yidam Entertainment. She had returned home from Milan Fashion Week in Italy the day before, and she has been categorized as intimate interaction and in self-quarantine. “She has no symptoms of COVID-19,” she added, “but she didn’t attend the Chunsa International Film Festival as she hasn’t gotten her test results yet.”

On the same day, IU won the Best New Actress Award at the 27th Chunsa International Film Festival for her part in ‘Broker’ (director Hirokazu Koreeda, 2022). She portrayed ‘Soyoung,’ a mother who gave birth to a child that was placed in a baby box, in the movie. She was disappointed that she couldn’t attend the ceremony because this is her first festival award. Two further awards were given to “Broker.”

The story of “Broker” centres on a baby box, a compact area where parents can secretly abandon their infants. In order to find new parents for a baby left in a baby box, Sang Hyun (Song Kang Ho) strikes a special arrangement with them. He describes himself as a goodwill trader. In this venture, Sang Hyun collaborates with Dong Soo (Kang Dong Won). They become connected with Soyoung (IU), who deposited her kid in the baby box but has now returned to retrieve her baby. While everything is happening, Sang Hyun and Dong Soo are being pursued by detectives Soo Jin (Bae Doo Na) and Lee (Lee Joo Young).

IU began her career as a singer at the age of fifteen with her first extended play (EP), “Lost and Found,” after signing on with LOEN Entertainment (now Kakao Entertainment) in 2007 as a trainee (2008). It was after the release of ‘Good Day,’ the lead single from her 2010 album ‘Real,’ that she attained national popularity, despite the fact that her follow-up albums, ‘Growing Up’ and ‘IU…IM’, brought mainstream acclaim. After spending five weeks straight at the top of South Korea’s Gaon Digital Chart, “Good Day” was named the best K-pop song of the 2010s by Billboard in 2019.
