Jaaved Jaaferi is 63, but he still looks sharp, energetic and youthful. Fans often wonder how he manages to stay this fit. The actor was last seen in De De Pyaar De 2 and is now preparing for Dhamaal 4. In a recent interview by Curly Tales, he finally shared the lifestyle that keeps him going.
The conversation took place at his colourful Bandra home, where he lives with his son, actor Meezaan Jafri. The house is warm and full of personality, with vintage CDs, a cosy theatre room and the familiar Jaaferi humour. The Sunday brunch spread was grand, but the interviewer wanted one answer first – what is Jaaved’s secret to ageing in reverse?
Meezaan stepped in before his father. He explained that Jaaved follows a disciplined routine and avoids all outside food. He said his father only eats home-cooked meals and has stuck to this habit for years. Meezaan also pointed out that the results are visible on his skin and health.
Jaaved Jaaferi Has A Routine Built On Clean Eating
Jaaved’s daily routine is simple but strict. Here is what he follows:
He starts his day with one litre of hot water. Then he eats fruits like papaya, apple, avocado and banana. Later, he eats four eggs, either half-fried or boiled, with bread or nachni roti.
His breakfast also includes blueberries and nuts soaked overnight, such as walnuts and almonds. Lunch is usually a salad. Dinner is light and always made at home.
The rule is – no restaurant food, drinks or smoking.
Meezaan added that dance training and free-hand workouts in Jaaved’s early years built a strong foundation for fitness. He also joked that his father still needs to sleep earlier, but said the discipline works so well that “he looks like he’s drunk from the Fountain of Youth.”
Actor On His Son’s Bollywood Journey
The interview also explored Jaaved and Meezaan’s bond. The two were recently seen together in De De Pyaar De 2. But their journey to the film industry came with its own set of lessons.
Jaaved revealed that he first sent Meezaan to the United States for graduation. But when he struggled academically, Meezaan returned to India and chose to study in Mumbai instead. Later, when he told his father he wanted to join films, Jaaved asked him to study filmmaking properly. He even joked that he would beat him with shoes if he failed to score a GPA of 3.5 in both semesters.
Meezaan met the target. But before he could finish the degree, Sanjay Leela Bhansali offered him a film. Jaaved let him choose and that marked the start of his Bollywood career.
