Jamtara Season 2 Review: Show has newer experiences but lacks subtlety, new season doesn’t look better, watch video

Jamtara Season 2 Review: Jamtara-Sabka Number Aayega was a very unique show when the first season came. There had not been a slick web series on the Phishing Empire run in India from the youth of this tiny Jharkhand suburb. Naturally it captured the imagination of people. The challenge for the second season was to maintain that integrity and again offer something new. The show did very well delivery on that, bringing very unique plots and complexities. But even then, it ends up with short of being a truly great show because of lazy writing and partly due to the tendency to play this show to the gallery.

Show uses demonetization beautifully

Jamtara is the capital of phishing and credit card fraud in India. The capital is run by boys who come across as amateurs, but they can clean up your whole bank account. The show’s second season takes off from the season 1 finale; Gudiya (Monika Panwar) is contesting the elections against Brajesh Bhaan (Amit Sial). Sunny (Sparsh Srivastava) recovers from his injuries and the boys of Jamtara are taking their ‘phishing businesses’ to the next level.  The show uses demonetization beautifully by setting season2 in the middle of the time. Highlighting the problems’ faced by scammers due to the sudden step.

Newer characters are introduced with newer innovative ways of scamming.  The show also highlights how people have started to catch on to the fact that is being scammed. The trouble with Jamtara is that the show tries to be very smart but ends up being too clever for its own good. Most of the web series lacks this but Jamtara showed the best that you will not have to miss. The show is directed by Soumendra Padhi.
