Jaya Bachchan gives befitting reply to Ravi Kishan’s ‘drugs in Bollywood’ claim, Kangana Ranaut reacts

Actor turned politician Jaya Bachchan in her address at Rajya Sabha demaded government’s involvement the recent vilification of the Hindi film industry. Without taking BJP MP Ravi Kishan’s name, the actor said, “Jis thaali mein khaate hain, uss hi mein chhed karte hain.”

Jaya, a Samajwadi Party member, said that the film industry was being “flogged by social media and the government’s non-support”.

“Just because of a few people, you cannot tarnish the whole industry… I was really embarrassed and ashamed that yesterday one our members in the Lok Sabha, who is from the industry, spoke against the film industry” said Ms Bachchan,, referring to Ravi Kishan’s statement in Lok Sabha.

Earlier, ahead of parliament’s monsoon session, Ravi Kishan said that the Drug addiction in the film industry is very much real.

“Drug addiction is in the film industry too. Several people have been apprehended. The NCB has been doing very good work. I urge the central government to take strict action against the culprits soon. Give them a befitting punishment and bring an end to this conspiracy by neighbouring countries,” he said.

Jaya Bachchan, rebutting Ravi Kishan’s claims, in her address said that the prime aim of this ongoing rift is to divert the focus from the real issues. “The entertainment industry in our country provides direct employment every day to five lakh people and indirect employment to five million people. At a time when the financial situation is in a depressing state and employment is at the worst level, in order to divert the attention of the people, we are being used to be flogged by social media and the government’s non-support. But people who have made their name in this film industry have called it a gutter. I completely disagree,” she said.

Kangana Ranaut, who has lately been in feud with most of the people from film industry, soon joined the debate, asking if Ms Bachchan would had done same if her son and daughter received the alleged ill treatment in Bollywood.

“Jaya ji would you say the same thing if in my place it was your daughter Shweta beaten, drugged and molested as a teenage, would you say the same thing if Abhishek complained about bullying and harassment constantly and Jaya ji would you say the same thing if in my place it was your daughter Shweta beaten, drugged and molested as a teenage, would you say the same thing if Abhishek complained about bullying and harassment constantly and found hanging one day? Show compassion for us also found hanging one day? Show compassion for us also,” she had tweeted.

Jaya’s address at the Rajya Sabha was applauded by many Bollywood celebs including Taapsee Pannu, Sonam Kapoor among others.
