John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor starrer ‘Ek Villain Returns’ postponed, check out new release date

The release date of much-anticipated sequel of the 2014 film ‘Ek Villain’, ‘Ek Villain Returns’ has been postponed. The film, which was originally slated for July 8 release, will now hit the theatres on July 29. Filmmaker Mohit Suri on Tuesday took to his Twitter handle and shared the update. He wrote, “#EkVillainReturns gets a new release date, 29th July 2022.”

Mohit Suri had earlier said in a statement, “‘Ek Villain’ was my passion project and a labour of love. The kind of love that I still receive for ‘Ek Villain’ overwhelms me. I am sure with ‘Ek Villain Returns’, the love is only going to grow bigger. And while I cannot reveal much about the film, I can assure that it is going to be a thrilling rollercoaster ride.”

Directed by Mohit Suri and jointly produced by T-Series and Balaji Telefilms, the movie stars John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani and Tara Sutaria in lead roles.

Mohit Suri has directed films like Half Girlfriend, Aashiqui 2, Murder 2, Zeher and Kalyug among others. Ek Villain Returns marks John Abhraham’s first collaboration with the director. Meanwhile, Disha Patani played the lead role in Mohit’s last directorial, Malang.

Earlier, Arjun Kapoor opened up about working with John Abraham. In an interview with SpotboyE, Arjun said, “I haven’t really short with him yet, we don’t share screen space to that degree that every day we will be shooting together. It’s a nice interesting script where two characters are coming together at the right time to entertain you all. I’m looking forward to it.

The actor also added that he is lucky to be working with John, who is so good in this space.”It’s a feeling of happiness that you get to work with somebody so good with action; he will elevate my level of action when I do with him. So it’s very exciting to work with somebody’s (John) strength, it’s his strength and I would like to learn, I would like to adapt to that and I would like to showcase my strength with his help. I’m hoping it will be a nice collaborative positive experience,” he said.
