With the second wave of COVID-19, many films are skipping their theatrical release, by opting for OTT release or Pay per View platform. When the reports of Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi being released on the OTT platform hit the internet, the actress cleared the rumours and took a dig at Alia Bhatt without mentioning her name in her Instagram Stories. The Panga actress taking a dig at Alia’s upcoming movie Gangubai Kathiawadi called her Chota bachcha cast for a gangster.
While she clearly stated the digital rights of Thalaivi being with Amazon Prime Video (Tamil) and Netflix (Hindi), none of the platforms will release it before the theatrical release, calling the news fake propaganda. She stated that strict action will be taken against the media for spreading these rumours. Her INSTA Stories read, “Thalaivi digital rights are with Amazon (Tamil) and Netflix (Hindi) none of them can individually stream the movie before theatres release, all the fake propaganda movie mafia doing please ignore. Thalaivi deserves a theatrical release and makers are determined, strict actions will be taken against any bikau media spreading fake propaganda.”
This was followed by taking a dig at Alia Bhatt and mocking her for her role in Gangubai Kathiawadi, calling her a Chota bachcha portraying a gangster. She wrote, “Bikau media write about ‘the film’ whose trailer was hugely criticized and mocked for bad acting and wrong casting of Chota bachcha as a gangster and is now being dumped on the digital platform. Write about ‘the film’ which is being dumped on digital as they have the reality check that the film is a mistake, I don’t see enough news about that…”
