Kangana Ranaut: The skyrocketing prices of food at movie theaters have been a cause for concern and discussion among moviegoers in recent times. The nostalgic memories of enjoying a movie with affordable snacks seem like a thing of the past, as exorbitant prices have become the norm. But looks like we got a solution, thanks to the man who raised the issue online.
A recent tweet by a frustrated person has shed light on the issue, revealing the shocking amount he had to pay for a tub of popcorn and a Pepsi at a popular cinema chain.
Rs 460 for 55gm of cheese popcorn, Rs 360 for 600ml of Pepsi. Total Rs 820 at @_PVRCinemas Noida.

That’s almost equal to annual subscription of @PrimeVideoIN.
No wonder people don’t go to cinemas anymore. Movie watching with family has just become unaffordable. pic.twitter.com/vSwyYlKEsK
The tweet stated that the customer had to shell out a whopping Rs 820 for the two items at @_PVRCinemas in Noida. The high price tag, which could have been used for a decent meal, highlighted the growing affordability crisis faced by moviegoers. The exorbitant cost of snacks has led to humorous sketches and discussions on social media, emphasizing the need for change in the movie theater experience.

The issue of inflated food prices at cinemas has gained significant attention, prompting cinema chains to introduce new pricing strategies. PVR, for instance, recently shared a price list featuring a weekend offer that includes unlimited popcorn and free refills of Pepsi. Additionally, on weekdays between 9 am and 6 pm, they offer a special package of items like burgers, samosas, sandwiches, and Pepsi for a reduced price of Rs 99.
In response to the taken decision, renowned actress Kangana Ranaut expressed her support for making movies more affordable for audiences. Sharing a post from The Tatva India on her Instagram story, she acknowledged the rising expenses associated with movie theater visits and called for a much-needed change in the industry.
