According to Sacnilk, the film had a strong second weekend. It collected Rs 39 crore on Saturday and Rs 39.75 crore on Sunday, taking the weekend total close to Rs 100 crore. About The Film

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 is produced by Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda under Hombale Films. The film stars Rishab alongside Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, and Gulshan Devaiah.

Set in pre-colonial coastal Karnataka, the film is a prequel to the 2022 hit Kantara. It explores the origins of the Buta Kola ritual and the events leading up to the first film. Rishab Shetty’s performance and his direction, which mixes culture, mysticism, and emotion, have received widespread praise.

The film has impressed not just audiences but also filmmakers and actors. Ram Gopal Varma, Anupam Kher, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Mahesh Babu and Yash have all praised Rishab’s vision. Many called Kantara Chapter 1 a “masterpiece” for celebrating local traditions while delivering a cinematic spectacle.

Despite Monday’s dip, the film’s momentum remains strong. Trade experts believe it will cross the Rs 500 crore in this week. With steady audience support and positive reviews, Kantara Chapter 1 is set to become one of the biggest hits in Indian cinema history.
