Rishab Shetty is back with a bang at the box office. His latest film, Kantara Chapter 1 (also called Kantara 2), is creating waves just two days after its release. The film has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in India, showing once again that the Kantara franchise has a strong fan base.
Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection Day 2
As per early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 45 crore on Day 2. This took its total India net collection to Rs 106.85 crore. It’s an incredible number for a regional release in such a short time.
The first Kantara (released in 2022) had started slow. It earned only Rs 4.6 crore in its first two days. However, it went on to become one of India’s biggest blockbusters, earning over Rs 400 crore worldwide. The sequel has already crossed Rs 100 crore within two days, showing how far the franchise has grown.
Experts believe Kantara Chapter 1 could reach Rs 200 crore by the weekend if the trend continues. The film is receiving strong word of mouth and positive audience reactions everywhere.
Theatres across the country are seeing packed shows. The average occupancy for Kantara Chapter 1 was 82.31% on Friday. Morning shows had 60.03%, afternoon shows reached 90.73%, evening shows were at 86.48%, and night shows reached almost 92%.
In Kannada, the film ran on around 1,500 screens. Bengaluru alone had more than 950 shows with an average occupancy of 86%. The Telugu version had over 1,000 shows, while the Hindi version dominated with 4,683 shows – more than double the original release.

Hindi Version Alone Beats Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari
The Hindi version of Kantara Chapter 1 has beaten Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari (SSKTK) by a big margin. While Kantara’s Hindi version made nearly three times more, SSKTK is facing tough competition to survive.
According to Sacnilk, SSKTK earned Rs 9.25 crore on Day 1. But its collections dropped by 43% as it collected Rs 5.25 crore on Friday. This brings its two-day total to Rs 14.50 crore. The Hindi occupancy for Friday was low at 14.94%, with weak turnout across most shows.

The box office clash has clearly gone in Rishab Shetty’s favour. Kantara Chapter 1 continues to bring audiences in large numbers, while SSKTK is struggling despite its festive release.
Both films are expected to see higher numbers over the weekend. However, the gap between them is already huge. Kantara Chapter 1 has turned into a blockbuster, while Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari will need strong word of mouth to recover its costs.
