Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection Day 3: Rishab Shetty’s Film Earns 28% Higher Than Chhaava, Will It Dethrone Vicky Kaushal Starrer As Highest Grossing Indian Film Of 2025

It seems like Kantara Chapter 1 has no plans to slow down anytime soon at the Indian box office. The Rishab Shetty starrer continues to rule theatres across the country. After a massive Dussehra opening and a strong second day, the film kept its pace on Saturday and delivered another big number.

According to Sacnilk, Kantara Chapter 1 collected around Rs 55 crore net on Saturday. With this, the film’s three-day total in India stands at Rs 162.85 crore. It had already earned Rs 107 crore by Friday, including Rs 61.85 crore on its opening day and Rs 46 crore on day two. With such strong numbers, it has become one of the biggest openers of 2025.

The success of Kantara Chapter 1 doesn’t stop at domestic earnings. On Friday, it became the highest-grossing Kannada film of the year. It beat Su From So, which had made Rs 92 crore in its lifetime. By Saturday, it had crossed the total collections of Salman Khan’s Sikandar (Rs 110 crore) and Ram Charan’s Game Changer (Rs 131 crore).

Within just three days, the film also crossed Rs 150 crore in India. It is now among the few Kannada films to reach this milestone. This makes it one of the most successful Indian films of 2025 so far.

Kantara Chapter 1 has also overtaken Bollywood’s Chhaava, which earned Rs 116.5 crore in its first three days. Rishab Shetty’s film collected Rs 162 crore during the same period – around 28% higher. Fans are now waiting to see if it can break Chhaava’s lifetime record and become the top-grossing Indian film of 2025.

The film is not just shining in India. Kantara Chapter 1 has also done well overseas. It has earned more than $2.5 million (about Rs 22 crore) from international markets in two days. The strong word of mouth is expected to push its overseas earnings even higher over the weekend.

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty,it is a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara. The first film had made over Rs 400 crore worldwide on a small Rs 15 crore budget. The new film is set nearly a thousand years before the first story and blends action, drama, and folklore.

The movie stars Rishab Shetty, Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah. Viewers and critics have praised the film for its strong story, performances, and breathtaking action. Many have also loved its spiritual tone and powerful visuals.

Amid its box office success, Kantara Chapter 1 will mark another proud moment. On Sunday, October 5, it will be screened at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
