Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection Day 9: Rishab Shetty Starrer Earns 34% Lesser Than Yash’s KGF 2, Crosses THIS Mark On 2nd Friday

Kantara Chapter 1 continues its strong run at the box office, crossing Rs 350 crore in India within nine days. It remains behind KGF 2 as second highest grossing Kannada film.

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 is ruling the box office. The Kannada epic, which hit cinemas on October 2, has turned into one of the year’s biggest hits. In just nine days, the film crossed Rs 350 crore in India, showing once again how Kannada cinema is making a strong mark across the country.

As per early estimates by Sacnilk, Kantara Chapter 1 earned about Rs 20.38 crore on its second Friday. This took its total domestic collection to Rs 357.78 crore. In its first week alone, the film collected Rs 316.25 crore, with weekday earnings between Rs 21 crore and Rs 34 crore. It opened with a massive Rs 61.85 crore and followed it with Rs 45.4 crore on Friday. The weekend saw another jump, with Rs 55 crore on Saturday and Rs 63 crore on Sunday.

Even in its second week, the film continues to attract crowds. Trade experts say its emotional storytelling and strong word-of-mouth are pulling people back to theatres. However, comparisons with Yash’s KGF 2 are hard to avoid. While Kantara Chapter 1 has set many records, it has earned about 34% less than KGF 2, which collected Rs 545 crore in nine days. This means Rishab Shetty’s film might finish as the second-highest-grossing Kannada movie after Yash’s blockbuster.

Still, this success is a huge win for Rishab Shetty. His direction, performance, and storytelling have received love from fans and critics alike. Many now wonder if Toxic, another big Kannada release, can challenge Kantara’s record.

To celebrate the film’s success, Rishab Shetty recently visited Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak Temple on October 10. Wearing a white shirt, traditional veshti, and red shawl, he offered prayers to Lord Ganesh and greeted fans with folded hands. Later, he visited the Babulnath Temple to seek Lord Shiva’s blessings. His humble gesture touched fans, who called it “a perfect way to celebrate success with gratitude.”

About The Film

Kantara Chapter 1 takes viewers back to pre-colonial coastal Karnataka, showing the events that led to the original Kantara. Rishab Shetty plays Berme, a tribal warrior who stands against oppression and fights Prince Kulashekara, played by Gulshan Devaiah. Rukmini Vasanth stars as Princess Kanakavathi, Berme’s love interest.

The film mixes mythology, spirituality, and folklore with powerful visuals and an emotional background score. It beautifully brings alive the Bhuta Kola traditions of Tulu Nadu, making it one of the most memorable cinematic experiences of the year.
