A case has been registered against Bolllywood actor Kangana Ranaut in Tumakuru district of Karnataka over her anti-farmers tweet.

The case was registered on Monday on the recent order of a local court over actor's alleged tweet which target farmers protesting against the controversial farm laws.

Kangana had compared farm laws to CAA(Citizenship Amendment Act). Calling them “terrorists”, Kangana had said people who protested against CAA are same who are now protesting against Centre’s farm bills.

"People who spread misinformation and rumours about CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) that caused riots are the same people who are now spreading misinformation about Farmers bill and causing terror in the nation, they are terrorists,” she had tweeted on September 21.

The case has been registered under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections, including 108 (abetment), wanton vilification upon a community (153A) and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace (504), police said.

The FIR against the actor was filed on October 9 after an order from a local court. The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) directed Kyathasandra police station to register an FIR against the actress on the basis of a complaint by a lawyer L Ramesh Naik.

"My case against popular Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is not to gain any publicity but to convey to her that what she did was wrong. When farmers take to the streets to protest against any government policy, they are not necessarily terrorists, as she thinks. I have joined many such protests, am I a terrorist? I need clarification on this and therefore I am fighting this case," Naik told IANS.
