Kareena Kapoor And Saif Ali Khan Faced Death Threats Due To Their Interfaith Marriage, Did It Happen With Soha Ali Khan Too? Check!

Soha Ali Khan opens up about the threats Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor faced during their interfaith marriage. She also shares her own experience of marrying Kunal Kemmu. Check what she said!

Soha Ali Khan recently spoke about the challenges her brother Saif Ali Khan and sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor faced when they got married. Back in 2012, the couple faced severe backlash. They even received death threats and warnings aimed at their families. Despite all this, Saif and Kareena went ahead with a private wedding in October. Their courage meant that when Soha married Kunal Kemmu, the public reaction was much calmer.

Soha Ali Khan Talks About Hate That Saif Ali Khan And Kareena Kapoor Received

In a chat with Nayandeep Rakshit on his YouTube channel, Soha was asked if she faced similar criticism. She said, “I don’t think it got to me because I feel like as long as the people who I love and who I care about and I respect are on the same page as me, it’s okay.”

She added, “There’s going to be lots of haters, there’s going to be lots of voices, and that’s also okay. I am fine with everyone having an opinion, and that’s all fine. So I think these things like… interfaith marriage, even when Kunal and I got married…”

Soha also recalled the strange headlines when Saif and Kareena tied the knot. “Even when Kareena and bhai got married, there were lots of strange things – Love Jihad, Ghar Wapsi, all kinds of weird headlines were being made as well. You know – You took one of ours, now we will take one of yours.”

Saif had revealed to Rediff that Kareena’s father (Randhir Kapoor) had received anonymous letters with threats. The letters warned that the family could be harmed and even suggested targeting the wedding venue. But Saif stayed calm. He said, “Making threats and carrying them out are two different things.”

He also drew strength from his parents (Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore), who had faced similar opposition during their interfaith marriage in the 1960s.

Sharmila Tagore has also shared memories of those days. During their wedding in Kolkata, her family received telegrams warning that “bullets shall speak.” Despite the fear, the couple went ahead with their ceremony, and thankfully, nothing bad happened.

Saif And Kareena’s Current Life

Today, Saif and Kareena have two sons, Taimur Ali Khan and Jehangir Ali Khan. While Saif’s ex-wife Amrita Singh is rarely seen celebrating festivals with the family, his other children, Sara and Ibrahim, often join in the celebrations.

Meanwhile, Soha Ali Khan is keeping busy in her own way. She was last seen in Chhorii 2, a horror thriller directed by Vishal Furia and starring Nushrratt Bharuccha. The film got mixed reviews, with critics pointing out the lack of jump scares, and it is now streaming on Prime Video.

Currently, Soha is focusing on her podcast, All About Her, where she talks to celebrities and explores their personal experiences and challenges.
