Kartik Aaryan recalls being paid Rs 20 crore for 10 days; says 'mai 20 din mein paise double kardeta hoon'

Kartik Aaryan is apparently one of Bollywood's highest-paid actors nowadays. The actor, who was paid 1.25 lakh for his first film Pyaar Ka Punchnaama (2011), revealed that he earned 20 crore for a film that he shot during the Covid-19 outbreak. In a new interview, the actor also stated why he deserved the pay, referring to himself as the "Shehzada (prince)" of Bollywood.

Kartik Aaryan charged Rs 20 crore for Dhamaka

Previously, it was alleged that Kartik Aaryan was paid 20 crore for barely 10 days of work on Ram Madhvani's terror-thriller Dhamaka, which was set to be released in 2021. The actor, however, has not verified this. He has now not only spoken about his purported 20 crore remuneration, but also why film makers give him such a large sum. Kartik was told by journalist Rajat Sharma on the latest episode of Aap Ki Adalat on India TV that he had become 'so preoccupied' with himself that after earning 'sava lakh (1.25) lakh' in his debut film (Pyaar Ka Punchnaama), he was now demanding for 20 crore. "Woh to dus din ke hain," the actor blushed and responded.

When he claimed to be joking, the host reprimanded him, saying in Hindi, "No, you're not kidding. You took 20 crore for the film you shot in 10 days during the Covid-19 pandemic." Kartik said, "Sir, yeh kiya tha corona ke time pe, par kya mein aise discussion kar sakta hoon apni fees, mujhe nahi pata, Par haan, ek film (Dhamaka) aise bani aur dus din ka hi shoot tha uska. Woh mera remuneration tha aur main dus din mein kya 20 din paise twice kar deta hoon apne producers ke, toh banta hai.”

Kartik consider himself as Shehzada

Kartik was also told that after Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, he began acting like he was "hero number one." The horror-comedy was one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films produced in 2022. In response, the actor said in Hindi, "I've always considered myself as number one, and others are gradually catching on and viewing me as such. But it is the audience's adoration that I am most concerned with. I am starving for their adoration, and it is for this reason that I am obsessed with myself and want to make hit films... there is only one Shehzada (prince) in the film industry."
