Khalish follows the story of a woman who gets married at an early age. She has the responsibility of her son is also the apple of her eye. Time flies by and her son gets married. The woman could not have asked for more and is happy to see her perfect family. However, as time passes the saas develops a bitter attitude towards the bahu and starts to analyze every action and choice she makes. Despite her best efforts, the bahu is unable to win over her saas and cannot determine the cause of her cold demeanor. She soon discovers her saas is in love with a man in her neighbourhood after one day of following her. She confronts her saas and explains how a young marriage followed by loneliness after her husband's death could have forced her to be isolated.
The saas confides in her young bahu after initially being apprehensive about her choices. She also soon reveals that she has been having racy dreams about a young man in their neighbourhood. The bahu now wants the best for her saas and, in an effort to win her over, assures her that she would make him fall in love with her.
