The film and TV world is mourning the sudden loss of Kaanta Laga star Shefali Jariwala. The 41-year-old actress reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest late Thursday night, between June 27 and 28. Her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, rushed her to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai. Unfortunately, she was declared brought dead.
Shefali’s last rites will take place today, June 28, at the Oshiwara crematorium in Mumbai. This is the same cremation ground where actor Sidharth Shukla’s final rites were held in 2021.
Parag Tyagi Breaks Down, Requests Privacy
Parag Tyagi was seen in public for the first time after Shefali’s death. He looked deeply heartbroken as he arrived at Cooper Hospital, where he was surrounded by media. Parag folded his hands and said, “Please, mat karo,” urging the paparazzi to stop recording him during this emotional moment.
Parag was also seen walking their pet dog Simba. He appeared to be holding a photo frame of Shefali. Police vans were also spotted near the cremation venue.
Soon after videos of Parag’s emotional moments went viral, social media users expressed anger at the paparazzi. Many felt the paps crossed a line.
One user wrote, “Paps, have some compassion, leave him alone… Put yourself in his shoes.” Another said, “Why are you people behaving like that? Please give him some space.” Comments urging the media to show basic empathy flooded the posts.

The Cine and TV Artistes' Association (CINTAA) posted a heartfelt tribute on their official X handle. They wrote, “We, at CINTAA pay our heartfelt tribute to Shefali Jariwala. Your presence and talent will always be remembered.”
While early reports suggested cardiac arrest, Mumbai Police later stated that Shefali was found dead in her apartment. Her post-mortem is still underway, and the family hasn’t shared any official statement yet.
Shefali rose to fame in the early 2000s with her bold appearance in the hit song Kaanta Laga. She became a pop culture icon overnight. Apart from music videos, she featured in several TV shows and gained popularity with her time on Bigg Boss 13. Her sudden death has shocked fans across the country.
